GAA v Rathfeigh

Our first home game of the year saw St. Patrick's take on Rathfeigh. There was a huge amount of skilled defending and hard work by everyone on the pitch.

Players of the match were Holly Brady and Matthew Watson. Both of these players played in goals and outfield. The two of them made great saves, had accurate kickouts, and made a noticeable contribution to outfield play when they swapped positions with their teammates. Holly and Matthew are great leaders on the pitch!

Training Tuesday next week and match against Dunsany on Thursday in Trim GAA.

GAA v Culmullen

The football team traveled to Culmullen school yesterday for a match. Conditions were tough with strong winds and heavy rainfall. There were some great passages of play and St. Patrick's battled hard until the end. We were unlucky in front of goals, but it was a great chance to work on shooting under pressure and will stand to us next Thursday when we take on Rathfeigh at home.

Player of the match for the girls was Meghan Lennon, who showed great leadership on the pitch, never gave up or let the head drop and worked hard no matter what position she was in.

For the boys, the player of the match was Ben Watson. Ben scored an unbelievable goal towards the end of the game. He was calling for the ball, supporting his teammates and running into great positions!

Well done to all of the players! Training Tuesday 2-3pm and match on Thursday at 1.30pm.

DON'T FORGET GUM SHIELDS!

Well Done Maxwell

Well done to Maxwell on coming second in his karting race last weekend! It's a great achievement and well deserved after all of the practicing you've been doing!

GAA v Clonard

Today the team traveled to Clonard where the girls and boys had a game each. These were the first games of the season, and with only two training sessions under our belt it was going to be tough.

The girls battled hard and never gave up. They were unlucky to lose by only a kick of the ball. Some of the older players on our team selected Elizabeth Cooper as the player of the match, because she fought hard for every ball, kept everyone's spirits high and made a tremendous effort for the whole match. Great job, Elizabeth!

I couldn't believe the standard of football over at the boys' match. A huge effort was made by all players to try the skills they've been practicing. A noticeable feature throughout the game was the support play-players helping their teammates, calling for the ball and running off each other. Player of the match was Max Cooper. This was his first match, and he performed like someone who was playing all of his life! A very honest player, with a strong work ethic! Super work, Max!

Training next week on TUESDAY 2-3pm, match on THURSDAY.

Don't forget gear and gumshields!

Cúpla Focal

Gaeloideachas has released a new booklet called Déan Comhrá ‘Cúpla Focal’ for Parents and Guardians. While the booklet is aimed towards parents of children attending Gaelscoileanna, there are lots of simple phrases and vocabulary which could be used informally in any home.
Déan Comhrá JPEG"There are many benefits of speaking Irish at home with your child and we hope that these words and phrases will help make Irish part of your daily routine. You can help your child build on their confidence and improve their Irish by giving them lots of opportunities to speak Irish outside of the classroom. It will help them greatly to have regular, real reasons for using the language. If they see that you are enthusiastic and positive about the language, they will be too! If you wish to learn Irish yourself, we highly recommended that you use this booklet
alongside our website IrishforParents.ie. You will find many excellent resources on the site which have been specifically developed for the language requirements of parents and guardians of children in Irish-medium education. The website will help you build vocabulary based on relevant topics, help your understanding of spoken Irish through video and audio files and you can learn more about language structures. We hope you have fun on this journey together.

Bain triail as!"
