GAA Blitz Boys

The first ever boys G.A.A. team for St. Patrick's N.S. lined out today in 4 matches as part of the Cumann na mBunscol 7-a-side blitz in Trim. The boys were outstanding, especially considering some of them had never played the sport competitively before. The attitude shown was fantastic and the older boys in particular were brilliant at making sure everyone on the pitch was included and given a chance to use the skills they have been learning over the past few weeks.

The girls and boys have really impressed other managers and coaches during their blitzes, and Trim G.A.A. have asked me to put up the training schedule for under-age teams in Trim. The only way to keep improving is practice, so if any of the boys or girls want to train outside of school and play matches over summer, get involved in your local club!

St. Patrick's Day and Easter Holidays

School will close at 12.30 tomorrow for our Easter Holidays! We hope everyone has a great break. It is a non-uniform day, and if you have green clothes wear them to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

Proclamation Day

Today was Proclamation Day, an important day where all of the schools in Ireland take time to commemorate 1916, celebrate the present and imagine the future. The students in Mr. Larke's room have worked hard on interesting and informative projects about 1916 and the events leading to Ireland becoming the Republic it is today. They have also created a Proclamation for a New Generation for St. Patrick's N.S., which you can see, along with the other proclamations from around Ireland, on scoilnet.ie.

Ben Ryan read an explanation of the word 'proclamation' and then Elliot read our proclamation:

Eleanor raised the national flag and the whole school sang our national anthem, Amhrán na bhFiann.

Isabella then spoke about our Active School Flag and mentioned how it was won by the whole school working together. We sang our Active School Song and Matthew Love raised the flag.

Sporting News

Hard luck to the 5-a-side soccer team yesterday! Well done on getting so far, the school is really proud of you all!

Soccer Competition Winners

St.Patrick's N.S won their group matches yesterday in the F.A.I 5 a-side soccer competition & got through to the play-offs!

The play off match finished 3-3 after extra time & the penalty shoot out went to sudden death... After Dominik made a great save, Isabella stepped up and made no mistake from the spot!

We will be returning to the MDL next Monday the 14th to play an extra round of matches against the fellow group winners from yesterday's matches.

Thanks a million to Trim GAA who have provided us with jerseys and footballs (as well as a medical kit that we hopefully will not need!!!) ahead of the blitz for our girls team on Thursday.Hopefully the boys will have their blitz before the Easter break.
