Today we started a new whole-school initiative called "Buddy Reading". Each class group has been paired with a group from another classroom. The older children in each group were invited to bring in books today to read to their buddies in the other rooms. Books were also available from our wonderful school library and classroom readers. Many studies have observed a link between reading and spelling, which is our school's focus for self-evaluation at the moment. We hope to encourage children to read independently at home through fun activities like this and to promote more positive attitudes to reading at home and in school.
