GAA v Mount Hanover

Last Thursday, the football team had their final match of the season in Trim GAA against Mount Hanover.

Best. Game. Ever.

St. Patrick's had two teams, one for the first half and one for the second. We opened the game with several unanswered points. Mount Hanover came back into the game eventually and at half time there was nothing between the teams. St. Patrick's kept the momentum going in the second half, and when the final whistle blew, there was only a point in favour of Mount Hanover separating us.

While players were disappointed to have lost in the end, the standard of play and quality of shots taken showed the unbelievable improvements our team has made since the start of the year.

It was nearly impossible to select a player of the match, as every single player got stuck in, used their new skills and never gave up. However, Conor O'Donnell and Eleanor Watson both played their best matches to date against Mount Hanover. It was great to see the increased confidence the two of them had on the pitch last Thursday.

I want to say a special well done to our other 3rd Class players, Oscar, Max, Gavin and Hugo, and Hannah and Maxism, who have only begun playing this year in school! Congratulations to the older and more experienced players in 4th, 5th and 6th who helped everyone to improve and led the way on the pitch.

The best thing for every player on the team to do now is to keep practicing your new skills and developing them!

Final training session tomorrow (Tuesday) 2-3pm.
