Suggested daily Time-Table for children

Dear Parents

We all hope you & all the children in our school are safe & healthy in these unsettling times.

The following is a suggested time-table for children in the middle & senior room that you may find useful.

The resources we've uploaded to the blog are excellent & the best advice we can give you is to first make a timetable (around the circumstances of your own household) with the input of your child/ren.

Start slowly & build up gradually.

We're conscious of the fact that not all children have one parent at home at the moment & this may not be possible. 

Morning Suggestions:

- Walk/Jog/ play outside/lots of suggestions on our blog

- Music - practice instruments (if they play any)/ listen to their favourite music. 

- Maths - Maths time (for children from 2nd to 6th class) These will be in their bags - if any child does not have their Mathstime with them, please let us know by emailing us & we'll post it to you.

- online games (all on blog) - we will be adding more soon. 

- Project work - Begin work on a project of their choice. Like we said on the blog yesterday, we would love if you could email your pics to us & we'll put them up.

Afternoon Suggestions:

- In English, keep reading class novels (4th - 6th class)  For Middle and Junior room, there are great books to read online on getepic (details on blog), BorrowBox or whatever books they are reading themselves.
- Spell Well - continue week's activities

- Continue touch-typing club. 

- All 1st - 6th class children could start the short story competition we put up on the blog yesterday. 

- In Gaeilge, (we know this may be difficult for some parents) but there are excellent resources that were put on the blog on Tuesday.
- Fuaimeann & focail - continue week's activities

- Art - at the moment making Mother's Day cards (for granny as well) 

- The 30 day Lego challenge on the blog is excellent & there are great engineering challenges on twinkl. (available for free & there are weekly packs for all classes there too.)

 - Cooking/baking  -  making pancakes etc. We'd love to see what you've baked at home!

The Irish Times article on home schooling we put up on the blog has some great advice there. 

We hope this is some help. We will be regularly updating the school blog so look out for updates. 

We will be adding maths & spellings online activities soon.

The children attending Ms. Kilrane are to continue with their Nessy programme.

Short Story Competition for 1st - 6th class - Two €30 Antonia Bookshop Vouchers to be won!

We are looking for children in St. Patrick's N.S to write a short story of not more than 300 words on any topic of their choice!

Two children will win a €30 book voucher each for Antonia's Bookshop in Trim.

School Closure Note

Dear Parents,

The activities on this page are NOT compulsory. We will not be looking for them when the school re-opens. These are just suggestions. We have not included any material which hasn't been covered in class, and the children should be able to complete a lot of these activities independently.

We don’t want parents to feel under pressure in any way to do these, the most important thing is keeping healthy and safe.

Juniors and Seniors-look through books at home to find certain sounds/tricky words and make lists. 1^st Class can look for adjectives, verbs, nouns.

(JUNIOR ROOM: TWINKL: I would recommend some cutting activities for fine motor skills, handwriting practice sheets, there are comprehension activities which would be good for 1^st class children. They also have nice stories on this website with many follow up activities.)

Again, these are optional activities, there is no obligation to do any of these!

World Book Day

Many thanks again to Antonia who invites us to her lovely bookshop every year for World Book Day! Every child gets a book with the book tokens and then we get to hear a story. We are so lucky to have this great bookshop so close to us!
