Senior pupils (3rd-6th class) from Ms Kilrane and Mr Larke's room along with Ms Grisewood went on a tour to Mount Lucas Wind Farm in Co Offaly and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The trip was educational AND fun and Catherine, our guide, was brilliantly entertaining throughout. First we had a talk about Climate change and the importance of renewable energy forms such as wind energy and then the pupils had the opportunity to try out some of the interactive games and quizzes in the Learning Hub and see a wind turbine up close (the average height is about 100 metres, just a little smaller than The Spire on O'Connell Street in Dublin)! The highlight of the tour was undoubtedly the chance to wear a virtual reality headset and experience for yourself what it's like to be inside a wind turbine and see the landscape from the very top of a turbine.... pretty cool and you'd need a head for heights!!! Check out some of our pictures from the day below....

Junior Infants to Second Class had a brilliant time yesterday at Mountlucas Wind Farm! Catherine met us off the bus and she taught the children loads about energy and Mountlucas. Have a look at some photos and videos from the trip. Thank you to Ms. Grisewood and the Green School Committee for organising the trip!

GAA Match
Well done to the football team who played their first match of the season against Mulhussey NS. The improvement in the players since we began training is unbelievable! Here is the team modelling the new jerseys which Trim GAA kindly provided for us...
Player of the match was Meghan Lennon. She showed huge determination and never gave up fighting for the ball. She was also very encouraging to her team mates and showed excellent sportsmanship.

Bain Triail Aisti-Surprise Yourself!
Seachtain na Gaeilge atá ann arís!
It's amazing to hear na páistí ag baint úsáid as a gcuid Gaeilge. Everyone is making an iarracht mór to use their cúpla focail. The múinteoirí have cartaí glas to give to any child they catch ag caint as Gaeilge, and the shed is also a Pop-Up Gaeltacht!
Energia have loads of information about events for Seachtain na Gaeilge, and also frásaí anseo...https://www.energia.ie/why-energia-1/seachtain-na-gaeilge-le-energia-2018

Irish Dancing
Many thanks to Mark for coming in for 6 weeks and teaching the children Irish Dancing. Today was his last day, and the class groups all did a performance for each other in the halla. Bhí gach duine ar fheabhas agus rinne siad an-iarracht! Please see the notes from Mark about dancing classes in Trim GAA club.

World Book Day
Many thanks to Antonia's Bookstore and to the Parent's Association for organising a wonderful World Book Day for the children in the school. Every child got to buy a book in Antonia's with their book token, and Antonia even took the time to read all of the classes some stories. The PA's book exchange fundraiser was a great success, and €110 was raised for Sightsavers!
Before the Juniors and Seniors went home, they had a great surprise! The children in the Senior Room came in to read some stories to them. It was a great way to finish off World Book Day.
