GAA Girls

Great work by the cailíní today, who finished their season with a great win against Killyon! There was some amazing team work and the improvements since the start of the year are incredible! It's great to hear about girls joining club teams too...you'll be flying when we start back next year! Franziska, who scored an impressive goal, was our player of the match today. She often practices her football skills, and that really paid off today. The 6th class girls all got a special buladh bos for the leadership they have shown over the year, and for the encouragement and good example they set for the younger players.

GAA

The girls traveled to Cushenstown NS yesterday and played against a very experienced side. There were some fantastic team performances and plenty of improvements to be seen since we first began training. There were two players of the match this week, Holly and Patrycja. They both did plenty of running and calling for the ball, and got stuck in! Well done girls!

There will be one last training session on Tuesday from 3pm-4pm for boys and girls, and the girls have their last match next week in Trim GAA.

GAA News

The boys played their last football game of the year yesterday against group leaders, Mulhussey. Congratulations to all of the players on taking part in our first year in the league competitions! Our player of the match was Conor, who did a huge amount of running and hard work throughout the match! He has recently started training with his local GAA club too! The only way to get better at football is to keep practicing, so it's a great idea to join your local team, especially to keep up the skills over summer!

There have been fantastic improvements since we started training sessions on Tuesday. Well done to Ethan and Ben who were our most improved players! It's great to see confidence and skills improving throughout the weeks! Keep it up boys!

Thanks to our older and more experienced players, Matthew, Eoin and Ethan. They set a great example for the other boys, involved everyone in the games and were very encouraging.

Maith sibh buachaillí!

GAA

Well done to our football teams this week. The girls took on the experienced Cortown NS and the boys played against Clonard school. There were some fantastic performances and team play in the two games, and plenty of hard work done! Well done to all players, especially Emily O' Donnell and Matthew Love. Emily has made HUGE improvements since she began training with us this year and showed great confidence in the game on Thursday. Matthew Love is an exceptional sportsman and leader on the pitch, as well making an effort to get all players involved in the game. Maith sibh!

GAA

Our two GAA teams were out this week. The boys played against Mulhussey NS and the girls were playing Kilbride.

Mulhussey proved to be too strong for the buachaillí and the girls, although they  made a fantastic comeback in the second half, also lost out to an experienced Kilbride side.

Hard luck, but well done to all players involved, especially our players of the matches. This week Ethan Douglas made a huge effort for the boys and Mia Chambers set a fine example for the ladies football team.

Well done Niamh McSherry!

On Saturday Navan RFC hosted a blitz for the girls underage teams, inviting Barnhall, Mullingar and Dundalk RFC’s and the WRWC was there on hand as well!  The weather conditions were horrendous, despite that Navan RFC won all their games and Niamh was one of the try scorers!
On Sunday they packed up their kit to attend a World Cup Tournament in the IRFU Training Camp grounds at Carton House.  There were three clubs invited from each province to represent a nation attending the Womens RWC.  Navan RFC U12 Girls were invited to represent France and they comprehensively won all their games.  They were described by Niamh Briggs (Captain) as “… savage.  The best U12’s team I have ever seen…!”
Below is a link to the official IRFU video of the World Cup tournament on Sunday - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gt9EZ8UzVQc&feature=youtu.be

Well done Milly, you will do a great job representing the school on Sunday in a Meath jersey...the first pupil from St. Patrick's NS to do so! If you want to go and support the Meath footballers and Milly, the match will start at 3pm and Milly will be playing at half time!

GAA Blitz Boys

The first ever boys G.A.A. team for St. Patrick's N.S. lined out today in 4 matches as part of the Cumann na mBunscol 7-a-side blitz in Trim. The boys were outstanding, especially considering some of them had never played the sport competitively before. The attitude shown was fantastic and the older boys in particular were brilliant at making sure everyone on the pitch was included and given a chance to use the skills they have been learning over the past few weeks.

The girls and boys have really impressed other managers and coaches during their blitzes, and Trim G.A.A. have asked me to put up the training schedule for under-age teams in Trim. The only way to keep improving is practice, so if any of the boys or girls want to train outside of school and play matches over summer, get involved in your local club!

Sporting News

Hard luck to the 5-a-side soccer team yesterday! Well done on getting so far, the school is really proud of you all!
